For weeks Citcat has been saying "painted rainbows and chamomile tea". I asked her several times "where did you learn that" and she would respond "from a library book". Since we have at least 50 books from the library on any given day I thought I might never find the phrase "painted rainbows and chamomile tea". Recently while reading children book reviews on-line. I saw the image of the book When You Are Happy and just knew this was the book. I checked it from the library (again) and sure enough I found the words painted rainbows and chamomile tea. The book is wonderful and heartfelt. Reading it makes both mother and child feel safe and happy. The illustrations are rich and fantastic. Citcat will sit and look at the pictures for quite a long time. She especially likes the page where the moon is holding a heart in his hands. Check this book from the library and you may find yourself buying it like we did.
When she first mentioned the chamomile tea I purchased some tea and we had a proper afternoon tea. She loves to drink a cup of tea. So now most afternoons you will find us sitting at the table reading books and enjoying our proper tea. I like the tradition of tea time. I recently read in Home Education Magazine how one family starts their homeschooling day by sitting down after breakfast with cups of tea and discussing their individual progress, making plans and talking about what they are learning. I love this idea. Citcat is a little young to discuss plans over tea but we can always read books!
