As I cleared my links I found this list of books that I previously recommended. It is a list of 100 books a child should hear before starting school. I read through the list and checked off the books that I have read to Citcat. I didn't consider the books that we have read only once like Duck on a Bike. It seems to me that a child should not only hear the book but the story and characters should be deeply ingrained. The child might even feel affection for Corduroy, Fredrick, Madeline, or Harry. We have only read 45 of the 100 books based on this criteria. There are a number of books that I would not include on this list such as Miss Mary Mack and Miss Nelson is Missing. I often write about books I like but there are so many that I don't like. Here is the list that we've read. I have marked those that I might put on my top 100 list in Red.
